Parry talked to the younger students about the Golden Rule and bullying on the Internet (over 85% of our students acknowledged having been cyberbullied). She engaged them in a discussion of how quickly we tend to respond to emails, or instant messages-and the desire to take back our words when they have been said in anger, or hurt, or without thought.

Parry suggested that in response students could "Take 5" minutes to walk away from the computer and do something they really enjoy before they reply to the message. The students were thrilled to offer her all their suggestions on what someone could do during his or her "Take 5." Here is a sampling of the drawings sent to Parry reminding other kids of what they can do when they "Take 5."
